There are at least five statutes the president could use to quickly impose tariffs again if the administration's Supreme Court appeal fails, though some have never been tested.

A federal appeals court had invalidated a centerpiece of President Trump’s economic strategy, finding that a 1977 law did not authorize the tariffs.

The Trump administration says the court's decision cast "a pall of legal uncertainty over the President's efforts to protect our country."
