Strong winds are fueling the explosion of the Springs Fire in Southern California, with evacuations ordered and thousands of acres already scorched.
As of Saturday morning, 260 personnel were assigned to the Springs Fire, including the deployment of two helicopters and 36 fire engines. Including Cal Fire, assisting crews include city fire departments from Hemet, Riverside, Palm Springs, Idyllwild and Corona, as well as Pechanga and Morongo.
Fire season is starting early and the federal agencies that fight fires in much of the state are in the middle of their biggest restructuring in decades.
A new wildfire was reported today at 11:31 a.m. in in Fresno County, California. The wildfire has been burning on private land. Currently, there is no information on the containment of the fire and the cause of it remains undetermined.
